Abstract

El cáncer testicular es una enfermedad oncológica rara, pero es el tipo de cáncer más común en hombres jóvenes, con una tasa de curación superior al 95%, cuando se detecta temprano. Este estudio tiene como objetivo crear un medio educativo para prevención del cáncer testicular, abordando la prevención, diagnóstico y tratamiento de esta patología, mediante recopilación de referentes bibliográficos, bajo una metodología de revisión documental. Los hallazgos más relevantes para diseñar el medio educativo son: El cáncer testicular es un tipo de cáncer que se origina en los testículos, que son las glándulas reproductoras masculinas responsables de producir esperma y hormonas, principalmente testosterona. Aunque es poco común en comparación con otros tipos de cáncer, es el cáncer más frecuente entre hombres jóvenes, especialmente aquellos entre 15 y 35 años. Los factores de riesgo para desarrollar cáncer testicular incluyen antecedentes familiares, historial de criptorquidia (testículo no descendido), antecedentes de cáncer testicular en el otro testículo, y ciertas condiciones genéticas. El cáncer testicular generalmente se presenta como una masa o bulto indoloro en uno de los testículos, aunque algunos hombres pueden experimentar dolor o malestar. El diagnóstico temprano y el tratamiento adecuado tienen un alto índice de éxito, con tasas de curación superiores al 95% en los casos detectados a tiempo. El tratamiento suele incluir cirugía para extirpar el testículo afectado, y en algunos casos, puede ser necesario realizar quimioterapia o radioterapia si el cáncer se ha diseminado. La relevancia o valor de esta investigación se enfoca en poder crear un medio educativo referente al cáncer testicular con el fin de brindar información sobre el tema y destacar su importancia acerca de su prevención, diagnóstico y tratamiento.

Abstract Testicular cancer is a rare oncological disease, but it is the most common type of cancer in young men, with a cure rate of over 95% when detected early. This study aims to create an educational medium for the prevention of testicular cancer, addressing the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of this pathology, through the collection of bibliographic references, under a documentary review methodology. Testicular cancer is a type of cancer that originates in the testicles, which are the male reproductive glands responsible for producing sperm and hormones, mainly testosterone. Although it is uncommon compared to other types of cancer, it is the most common cancer among young men, especially those between 15 and 35 years old.Risk factors for developing testicular cancer include family history, history of cryptorchidia (not descended testicle), history of testicular cancer in the other testicle, and certain genetic conditions. Testicular cancer usually presents as a painless mass or lump in one of the testicles, although some men may experience pain or discomfort. Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment have a high success rate, with cure rates higher than 95% in cases detected in time. Treatment usually includes surgery to remove the affected testicle, and in some cases, chemotherapy or radiation therapy may be necessary if the cancer has spread. The relevance or value of this research focuses on being able to create an educational environment regarding testicular cancer in order to provide information on the subject and highlight its importance about its prevention, diagnosis and treatment
